The presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, says he will govern the country with his own vision and priorities.

Dr. Bawumia said he has the capability to lead Ghana effectively if elected.

He promised to maintain independence in his decision-making.

He also refuted assertions that President Akufo-Addo will control him should he be elected.

Speaking during his engagement with the youth in Accra on November 3, Dr. Bawumia articulated his vision for Ghana’s future, emphasising his commitment to building a data-driven nation that harnesses technology to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.

“I have my vision and priority. Given the opportunity by you, the people of Ghana, to lead, I shall govern as my own man with guidance from God Almighty. My vision is to build an inclusive, self-sufficient, job-generating, data-driven, and system-based nation that will fully participate in the global digital revolutions to solve our problems and also usher in a golden age of benefits from our natural resources.”

He further pledged to unleash the talents of Ghana’s youth, providing them with good job opportunities if elected as president in the 2024 general elections.

“I want to lead a nation that improves and unleashes the talents of our youth and offers good jobs with good pay and sustainable growth with macroeconomic discipline.”
He advised the youth not to entertain any idea about not voting in the December 7 election due to the prevailing economic challenges.

“I know some of you may not be too eager to vote; I do not blame you if you have bought into the view that all politicians are the same, but that is not so,” he said.

“You can trust me to protect the public purse and use it selflessly to serve you. To the young voters of Ghana, I will ask you, do not switch off; I ask you to get involved.”

He added, “December is about you; it’s about who can deliver for you and your future, whom you trust, who has the integrity, the vision, the energy and competency, and the sense of where the world is and your place in it. I plead with you to make an informed choice.”
