National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Samson Asaki Awingobit, has questioned the delays surrounding the official declaration of the presidential election results.
Mr. Awingobit says it makes no sense for the Electoral Commission (EC) to refuse to declare the results.
He said the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has accepted defeat; there is no need for the EC to delay in declaring the official results.
To him, no amount of manipulation will overturn the will of the people.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio’s International Election Watch, he said the margin with which former President John Dramani Mahama won is no form of manipulation that will overturn the results of another person.
He has therefore asked the returning officer for the presidential election, Madam Jean Mensa, to do the honourable thing in announcing the results and officially declare John Dramani Mahama as the president-elect.
He was also optimistic that the NDC, with its two-thirds majority seats in parliament, is a testament that Ghanaians trust in the NDC to deliver on its campaign promises.
He informed Kwabena Agyapong that the former president’s votes confirm Ghanaians’ dissatisfaction with the incompetent Akufo-Addo administration.
He claimed that a government that promised to shift from taxing to production in order to overtax its population could only be defined as evil, callous, and lacked the necessary competence to lead the country.
