The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has told healthcare providers that there would be prompt and regular reimbursement of vetted claims following the recent uncapping of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
A statement issued by the NHIA and signed by Chief Executive Officer Victor Asare Bampoe stated the payment of claims would commence this week to ensure smooth healthcare service delivery nationwide.
According to the NHIA, it will publish details of claims paid on its website and enhance the monitoring of healthcare facilities across the country. Any provider found violating NHIA policies, including the imposition of unauthorised charges, will face sanctions without exception.
To maintain accountability and efficiency, the NHIA has reminded credentialed healthcare providers to strictly adhere to its policies. These include:
- Eliminating illegal charges such as co-payments and unauthorised fees for NHIS members.
- Submitting accurate claims reflecting actual patient attendance and compliance with NHIA regulations.
- Providing high-quality healthcare services in line with NHIS standards and protocols.
