Sheikh Husein Hassan, Imam at the Madina Central Mosque, has advised Muslims, most especially the youth, not to engage in lawlessness, indecent behaviour and other ungodly acts.
He has urged them not to allow the month of Ramadan to go to waste but allow it to reflect in their daily activities and wherever they find themselves.
Being born a Muslim does not automatically make one a Muslim, but learning its tenets and abiding by the principles of Islam do.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said faith and decent or godly behaviour are like twins, and a true Muslim cannot claim to be a devote practitioner without having good character and faith in Allah.
‘’Allah has commissioned Muslims to demonstrate good character and faith in him. You cannot claim to be a true Muslim and engage in lawlessness, indecent behaviour, and foolishness. If you truly fear Allah, you will not be seen entertaining lousy behaviour. You have to be very careful so that people don’t drag Islam in the mud.
Your character and engagement with people should make them appreciate Islam positively. A known Muslim is better than you if you fail to live by the core principles of Islam premised on the five pillars of Islam: Shahada (declaration of faith), Salat (prayer), Zakat (charity), Sawm (fasting), and Hajj (pilgrimage), along with the belief in Allah.’
He stressed that ”Ramadan is crucial because after the month-long fast, you should be God-fearing, and every God-fearing Muslim does not engage in activities that will breach Allah’s instructions and rules; you don’t take advantage of others. We should demonstrate to our neighbours and Ghanaians that we have fasted for thirty days and come out as new creatures. Let us Ghanaians feel an atmosphere of the Islamic faith. It is not our responsibility to judge others. Allah is the only true judge. We have to respect every human being. ‘Don’t look down on anybody”.
