Four suspected robbers have been gunned down during a shootout on the Bekwai-Fomena Highway in the Ashanti region.
The suspected robbers were believed to be part of a group of robbers who have been terrorising inhabitants and travellers within the Adansi areas.
Details emerging indicate that the suspects were part of a robbery gang who had mounted a roadblock and attacked passengers travelling between Bekwai and Fomena.
The police responded swiftly to distress calls and engaged the robbers in a fierce gun battle.
Four of the suspects died in the operation, while two others who also sustained gunshot wounds managed to escape into a nearby bush.
The police have since launched a manhunt for the arrest of the two others.
The Ashanti South Police Command has confirmed the incident.
According to the Command, full details will be released at a press conference today, Monday, April 14.
