A/R: Four suspected robbers gunned down by Police

Four suspected robbers have been gunned down during a shootout on the Bekwai-Fomena Highway in the Ashanti region.

The suspected robbers were believed to be part of a group of robbers who have been terrorising inhabitants and travellers within the Adansi areas.

Details emerging indicate that the suspects were part of a robbery gang who had mounted a roadblock and attacked passengers travelling between Bekwai and Fomena.

The police responded swiftly to distress calls and engaged the robbers in a fierce gun battle.

Four of the suspects died in the operation, while two others who also sustained gunshot wounds managed to escape into a nearby bush.

The police have since launched a manhunt for the arrest of the two others.

The Ashanti South Police Command has confirmed the incident.

According to the Command, full details will be released at a press conference today, Monday, April 14.
