Private Legal Practitioner Mr Kofi Bekai has welcomed the nomination of Court of Appeal Judge Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei to the Supreme Court bench.
He asserted that the appointment of the judge was long overdue but indicated that it has come with so much excitement considering the quality of competence of Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the lawyer described the judge as the trainer of judges with enormous legal experience, which will go a long way in transforming the apex court.
“Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei is fine material. He is the trainer of judges. He should have been appointed to the Supreme Court a long time ago. Time and season run for every event as stated in Ecclesiastes, and so if he has been appointed, I support his appointment. He is entitled to it. His appointment was late, but it has come to pass. I am excited that his time has come. He has the pedigree to be at the Supreme,” he added.
He was responding to the seven names from the Court of Appeal that President Mahama has nominated for the apex court.
Mr Bekai, in his response, said although his appointment has been delayed, it is refreshing news that he has finally been nominated.
“He is the most senior among the lot. He is very key in any lecture designed for judges in the judiciary.
When asked why the appointment of the judge was delayed, he stated that it takes the president to appoint.
