Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu has assured that government will support the S.D. Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies and complete its GETFund projects.
He conceded that the school has not seen any form of support in terms of infrastructure.
The minister stated that the president remains dedicated to supporting the school with infrastructure projects.
Mr Iddrisu announced that the government, through GETFund, will provide some seed money for the university.
“In terms of infrastructure, SD Dombo has not seen any support by way of infrastructure. I am happy to announce that this year, the government through GETFUND will make available some seed money for SD Dombo University as part of President Mahama’s quest for the university to grow.”
He further disclosed that the government will also address the school’s outstanding ECG debt by collaborating with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission.
“I am also aware that you have some ECG legacy debt. We will try and work with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission to offset that burden of the legacy debt.”
The minister made the remarks at a meeting with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education and other stakeholders in the education sector.
He further assured the school that the government will do its best to support the school in completing at least one of its GETFund projects.
“This year, I have requested that GETFund will support you through the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and through the Ministry of Education to at least complete one of your GETFund projects. When I say one, it means I wish I could do more, but chair, within the constraints of the budget, we identify one major priority of an uncompleted GETFund project, and we get it done for you this year.”
