The Government of Ghana has officially cleared all overdue salary payments owed to both former and current coaches of the senior national football team, the Black Stars. This decisive action, led by Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams, fulfils a long-standing pledge made under the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to promote fairness, transparency, and accountability within the nation’s football governance.
Following a comprehensive audit and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, the ministry secured the necessary funds to disburse payments to coaches who had served during critical qualifiers and international tournaments—despite months of unpaid wages.
Among the beneficiaries are former head coaches Chris Hughton and C.K. Akonnor, along with members of their technical teams, including George Boateng, Didi Dramani, David Duncan, and Maxwell Konadu. The current coaching team, headed by Otto Addo, has also received arrears for the period spanning October 2024 to March 2025.
Minister Adams described the settlement as “a restoration of dignity to professionals who have dutifully served their nation.” He also revealed plans to establish a National Sports Fund aimed at guaranteeing the timely and sustainable remuneration of national team personnel moving forward.
