The Electoral Commission (EC) has appealed to Parliament to intervene and facilitate security support from the Ghana Police Service so it can complete the delayed collation of results in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The electoral body made the appeal when it appeared before Parliament on Tuesday, June 19, 2025.
Deputy EC Chairperson in charge of Corporate Affairs, Dr Bossman Asare, said the EC remains committed to transparency and accountability throughout the electoral process.
He was, however, quick to add that the Commission will not be able to collate the results for the constituency without adequate security.
“Mr Speaker, the coalition has been transparent. As a commission, we are desirous of ensuring that the people of Ablekuma North have representation in Parliament.
“We urge this Honourable House to assist us in getting the support of the Ghana Police Service to provide the requisite protection to enable us to complete this collation exercise.”
He added that “The process has been transparent, participatory and accountable. The agents of the NPP and NDC have always been present throughout the collation as well as the media. The evidence of what transpired from the 9th of December was captured by the media. And this shows a transparent process devoid of bias, and it was open.”
