Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Clement Apaak, has extended condolences to the families of three students who lost their lives in a shooting incident at Nkwanta Senior High School.
Dr. Apaak, who is also the Builsa South MP, expressed his sympathies in a post on X formerly Twitter, responding to the shooting incident that occurred over two days.
Two students lost their lives in the incident on Thursday, June 26, 2025, while a third student was struck by a stray bullet on Friday, June 27, 2025.
Although the exact circumstances surrounding the conflict that led to the students’ deaths are unknown, the incident has been linked to the resurgence of a tribal conflict in the area.
The Ghana Education Service has subsequently ordered the closure of the school to ensure the safety of the students.
The decision to close the school followed urgent consultations between education authorities and security officials.
The Deputy Minister reacting to the incident stated that that “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of 3 students through a shooting incident on Thursday 26th June and a stray bullet on Friday 27th June at Nkwanta SHS as a result of the resurgence of a tribal conflict. We commensurate with the affected families and call for peace”.
