Edmund Akor, the junior brother of the late Ernest Yaw Kumi, has stated that his senior brother’s death has left him devastated.
Speaking to Rainbow Radio’s Prince Collins Bening, he said the late lawmaker was his anchor, and his death has left him in serious emotional pain.
Describing himself as a stubborn person, he said his late brother was the one who advised him to turn from his bad ways so he wouldn’t get into trouble.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, who was representing the people of Akwatia, is said to have died on Monday, July 7, 2025.
He reportedly died from cardiac arrest.
His junior brother confirmed this, stating that his senior brother complained of severe chest pains and was rushed to the hospital.
“He traveled on Sunday and returned, and on Monday, he was preparing for his exams when all of a sudden he complained of chest pains and so was rushed to the hospital. But after he was rushed to the hospital, the facility administered a drip, but they discovered it was not working. Later, his wife was told her husband had slept, but she insisted she wanted to see him. They tried to wake him up, but he was unresponsive,” he said.
When asked about his fond memories of Ernest Yaw Kumi, he said, “I will remember him for the consistent advice he always gave me. I am stubborn, but he was my advisor and anchor,” he added.
The late Ernest Kumi died at the age of 40 and left behind three children: two boys and a girl.
