Ablekuma North Constituency parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Akua Afriyie, has stated categorically that she will be contesting in the rerun of the 19 polling stations in the constituency.
She has therefore asked the Ghanaian public, particularly those in the constituency, to disregard any claims by anyone that she will not be contesting in the process.
According to her, although she won the main election by over 400 votes, she has been denied her victory, but she will not give up.
She has therefore appealed to constituents in the constituency, and most importantly those in the 19 polling stations for the rerun, to vote massively for her.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, she stated that she was optimistic about winning the election and would be declared as the elected Member of Parliament.
“I won an election, and yet some people have decided to rob me of my victory. We went to court to challenge the process, but the court decided otherwise. That is okay. However, I want to state categorically that if anyone tells you that I am no longer contesting the rerun, that is false.
I am also appealing to the NPP supporters to ignore claims that we are not contesting the elections. Akua Afriyie is contesting the same election and will win massively. God hates evil and evildoers. If I have won and some people are trying to deny me of victory, then God will deal ruthlessly with them. The NDC may have taken over our institutions, including the courts, but I have God. He will come through for me. I am appealing to the constituents to come out in large numbers and vote for me.”
