Mahama and his gang of incompetent security ministers are not serious about Bawku crisis and killings – Analyst

Security analyst Andrews Asiedu Tetteh has criticised President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, citing the administration’s handling of the Bawku crisis and recent cases of missing persons and violent deaths nationwide.

Mr. Tetteh expressed concerns that the government’s decision to announce law enforcement operations in Bawku highlights potential inadequacies in the country’s security leadership.

He advocates for a comprehensive overhaul of the Interior Ministry, which he believes lacks the security acumen to effectively address the surge in violent crimes.

In an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5, Mr. Tetteh stated that the government’s measures, including a strict curfew and evacuation of students from conflict-prone areas, may not be effective.

According to Tetteh, the Bawku violence exhibits characteristics of terrorist activities, rather than mere chieftaincy disputes, and if unchecked, the situation could deteriorate further.

He slammed the government’s approach as lacking a clear plan and questioned the effectiveness of their measures.

He also expressed disappointment with key government officials, describing Interior Minister Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak as inexperienced and Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah’s performance as lacking (though he didn’t mention the name correctly; as per the original text, it was Dr. Omane Boamah), and suggested that the President should consider replacing him.

He urged President Mahama to prioritise stability and security, warning that the current situation could have implications for Ghana’s stability.

“I am so sorry to announce that stability and security are not a concern for President John Dramani Mahama… I want President John Dramani Mahama to understand that because of Burkina Faso, a coup has become attractive. I am not saying this will happen in Ghana. He should wise up and deal with the security situation in the country. He is the most favoured president and should not disappoint Ghanaians on matters of security.
