Deputy Transport Minister, Akrobeto discuss road safety partnership

A delegation led by renowned Ghanaian actor and media personality, Akwasi Boadi, popularly known as Akrobeto, has paid a working visit to the Office of the Deputy Minister for Transport and Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, to explore strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening road safety awareness and compliance across the country.

The meeting focused on supporting the implementation of the Road Traffic Regulations (Amendment) through a nationwide public education and sensitization campaign.

Discussions centered on the critical role of effective communication in promoting responsible road use, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and encouraging compliance with traffic laws.

Madam Affo-Toffey emphasized that road safety remains a national priority, noting that reducing road crashes requires the collective efforts of government institutions, civil society, the media, and influential public figures.

She highlighted the importance of innovative public education strategies that resonate with citizens from all walks of life, expressing confidence that personalities such as Akrobeto can significantly amplify road safety messages through their broad appeal and credibility.

The Deputy Minister further reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing practical measures that will improve road safety standards while fostering a culture of discipline and adherence to traffic regulations throughout Ghana.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Akrobeto expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the Ministry and pledged his readiness to support initiatives that promote safer roads. He underscored the power of the media and entertainment industry in shaping public attitudes and influencing positive behavioural change.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration through sustained public sensitization, stakeholder partnerships, and advocacy campaigns designed to reduce road accidents and promote responsible road usage nationwide.

The proposed partnership is expected to leverage the influence of respected public figures and strategic communication platforms to educate motorists, pedestrians, commercial drivers, and the general public on the importance of observing traffic regulations, ultimately contributing to safer roads and saving lives across Ghana.
