A tragic incident occurred during the graduation ceremony and speech and prize-giving day at Golden Child Academy, resulting in the loss of life of Jenissi Afena Amponsah, a class two pupil.
The incident was caused by a stampede on the school compound.
According to Nana Kwame’s report on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, 16 other students sustained injuries.
The injured students have been admitted to the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum East, Bono East region, for medical attention.
The incident has plunged parents, guardians, and the school management into mourning.
Nana Kwame reported that the stampede occurred after a teacher directed the pupils to relocate from the top of the building to the ceremony grounds.
According to him, while the pupils were in transit, Jennis and another student fell.
It has come to light that the deceased had asthma and may have experienced an attack.
The family of the deceased has expressed dissatisfaction with the school management, accusing it of mishandling the situation.
