A fuel tanker lost control and crashed into a crowd at the Asukawkaw market in the Oti Region.
The incident led to the death of four people: three women and a one-year-old girl. Fourteen others were injured.
The Assembly Member for the Asukawkaw Electoral Area, Mark Oduro, confirmed the accident and described the incident as a “dark day” for the community.
“The injured have been rushed to nearby health facilities for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Worawora Government Hospital morgue,” Mr. Oduro said in a media interview.
The driver of the tanker has been arrested and assisting the Police with investigations into the cause of the crash.
