GES invites applications for promotion to top ranks

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced vacancies for the promotion of qualified serving teachers and officers to the ranks of Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent.

A statement issued by the GES disclosed that the application window will be open from Monday, August 18th, to Friday, September 5th, 2025. It indicated that suitably qualified individuals are invited to apply for these elevated positions.

The available ranks include Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent. Eligibility criteria vary for each rank.

For instance, applicants for Deputy Director and Assistant Director I positions must have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director I and Assistant Director II, respectively, on or before 2020 and maintained continuous service since then, with exceptions for approved leave.

Aspiring Assistant Director II candidates should have been promoted to Principal Superintendent by 2020 and also have continuous service.

Principal Superintendent applicants must have reached the rank of Senior Superintendent I by 2020 with continuous service; notably, those with an approved undergraduate degree will be automatically placed in this role.

The GES also addressed qualifications for officers and teachers holding Master’s or PhD degrees. Such qualifications must be in an approved GES course of study and obtained after the previous promotion, except for those applying for ADI, ADII, and Deputy Director roles, whose certificates should be dated on or before 2022.

“We encourage all eligible and dedicated teachers and officers to seize this opportunity for professional advancement within the Ghana Education Service,” stated Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), Ag. Deputy Director-General (MS), in the official communication.

The application process is strictly online through the GES website at https://bit.ly/gespromotions2025, where applicants can complete the application form and upload required documents.

The GES added that the importance of adhering to the application guidelines and deadlines.
