The Ministry of Education has issued a press release to debunk “false and maliciously misleading” information circulating on social media regarding the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
The statement from the ministry addressed a flyer claiming that placement is based on a rigid aggregate score system.
According to the release, this is inaccurate.
“The placement is based on a combination of factors, including aggregate and raw score, availability of vacancies in the various schools and programmes of study,” the Ministry stated. They also noted that “limited vacancies” and “high competition” can impact placement outcomes.
In an effort to promote integrity and transparency, the Ministry reiterated that “no form of payment or inducement is required or solicited from parents, guardians or their representatives.”
The release which was signed by Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, Deputy Minister for Education (MP) therefore advised the public to be cautious of bribery attempts and to report such cases to the nearest police station.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to a “merit-based” placement system and encouraged the public to rely only on official communication from the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, and TVET services.
