Political analyst Samuel Boateng has strongly advised Justin Frimpong Kodua to abandon his intention to seek re-election as General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asserting that the private legal practitioner has demonstrated a profound failure to discharge his core duties.
Mr Boateng was emphatic in his critique, arguing that the fundamental purpose of any political party is to secure electoral victory. He stated that any executive whose tenure culminates in the party losing power must, by political measure, be regarded as having failed.
Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the analyst maintained that Kodua’s performance was a major contributing factor to the party’s electoral defeat.
He characterised the role of the General Secretary as akin to a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), responsible for the party’s daily management and effectively marketing its vision to the Ghanaian electorate.
Evaluating Kodua’s stewardship, Boateng alleged a clear deficiency in competence.
He pointed specifically to a failure to maintain party discipline, which allowed internal misconduct to thrive.
A key example cited was the inability to sanction senior officials who openly violated internal rules by declaring support for candidates during the party’s primaries.
”When you are a General Secretary… and your party is in opposition, then politically you are regarded as incompetent,” Boateng stressed.
He further claimed that the leadership’s failure to enforce internal rectitude is causing the NPP to gradually lose its integrity.
Concluding his commentary, Mr Boateng firmly advised Frimpong Kodua to “humbly rescind his decision to contest,” branding his current term as a political “failure” that disqualifies him from seeking a fresh mandate.
