The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has extended condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the building collapse at New Town.
The Council also prayed for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, Peace Hospital and the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
Addressing a media briefing on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, as part of preparations towards the 2026 Christian Home Week Celebration, the General Secretary of the Council, Rev Dr Cyril Fayose, expressed deep concern over the incident.
He then offered condolences to the families affected by the recent building collapse in Accra New Town.
The disaster, which claimed three lives, was described by the Council as a “preventable” tragedy born of negligence.
“At the outset, the Christian Council of Ghana expresses its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent building collapse in Accra New Town, which tragically claimed three lives and left many others injured. We unequivocally condemn the negligence and failures that lead to such preventable disasters. We call for a full investigation and strict enforcement of building regulations to safeguard lives,” Dr Fayose stated.
A building collapse occurred at the Accra New Town Experimental School in the Greater Accra Region on Sunday, March 29, 2026, resulting in the deaths of three people.
22 individuals were rescued from the rubble, while others are receiving medical treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, the University of Ghana Medical Centre, and the Police Hospital.
The fatalities comprised one female and two males, all adults.
