A fatal collision between a VIP bus and a Toyota Prado at Akyem Sekyere on the Accra-Kumasi Highway has resulted in one death and multiple injuries.
The Ghana Police Service’s Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has diverted traffic at the Apedwa and Asiakwa sections of the highway following the crash, which occurred early Thursday, April 2.
The injured are receiving treatment at nearby healthcare facilities.
The accident has caused significant congestion, stranding travellers for hours, particularly those heading home for Easter festivities.
Drivers have been asked to take alternative routes: from Accra to Kumasi, motorists should divert through Kyebi from Apedwa, while those from Kumasi are being rerouted through Asiakwa to rejoin the highway at Apedwa. Authorities are working to clear the blocked road and tow the vehicles involved.
