President Mahama has committed to the establishment of Farmer Services Centres across 50 key agricultural districts.
The ambitious project, which aims to provide direct technical and mechanical support to rural farmers, moved from vision to reality a few weeks ago when the President officially cut the sod for construction to begin at Afram Plains.
According to a a post shared by the Minister in charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, these centres are designed to be more than just storage hubs; they will serve as comprehensive mechanisation points.

Once completed, the facilities will house an extensive fleet of over 4,000 pieces of agricultural machinery, aimed at reducing the physical burden on farmers and increasing crop yields nationwide.
The government has detailed an extensive inventory of equipment that will be distributed across the 50 districts.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu emphasised that these centres will provide “end-to-end” services.
This means that smallholder farmers, who previously could not afford their own equipment, will now have access to mowers, cutter bars, and pneumatic drills through the state-managed centres.

“These centres will change the face of farming in our districts,” the statement suggested, noting that the infrastructure will be tailored to the specific needs of each district’s soil and crop types.
