The Ghana Immigration Service has announced plans to incorporate riding proficiency into its tactical training curriculum, thereby ensuring that all graduates acquire essential riding skills.
This development was disclosed during a ceremony where the Service received a fleet of 21 motorbikes donated by the German Federal Police to enhance border operations and combat cross-border crime.
The motorbikes are expected to bolster border security and improve migration management in Ghana. At the handing-over ceremony, the Comptroller-General of the Immigration Service, Samuel Basintale Amadu, stated that the motorbikes would be utilised effectively, particularly in the northern region, to strengthen border protection.
He further noted that this initiative has informed the review of the training curriculum to equip officers with necessary skills.
“Our officers are putting the knowledge and skills they’ve acquired through our joint trainings into practice. These motorbikes and accessories, I can assure you, will be put to very good use to further strengthen our ability to protect our borders, especially up north,” he said.
On his part, the German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshoft, stated that the motorbikes are meant to support the Ghana Immigration Service in its border security efforts.
