The Ghana Police Service, working alongside the Australian Federal Police and Interpol, has detained three Ghanaian nationals in connection with the creation, production, distribution, and processing of indecent images and videos involving children.

During a press briefing, the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, explained that an Australian offender—who was apprehended in 2025 and is presently facing trial in Australia—had been receiving child sexual exploitation material from facilitators situated in Ghana.

COP Donkor noted that financial records indicate the offender transferred funds to these Ghanaian facilitators in exchange for the illicit material, which featured victims also located within the country.

Subsequent investigations carried out by the Child Digital Forensics and Cybercrime Unit, overseen by the Director General of the CID, resulted in the arrest of two further suspects and the rescue of two young victims, aged between 7 and 13, in the Ashanti Region.
All three suspects remain in police custody to assist with ongoing enquiries.

Meanwhile, the rescued children have been placed under the care of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) within their respective regions.
