A police officer from the Asuoyeboah Police Station has been removed from his post and placed in custody following his alleged participation in a violent robbery.
Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah was interdicted by the Ashanti Regional Police Command after he was linked to a targeted attack on a local mobile money vendor.
The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit, which utilized intelligence-led operations to track the officer.
During a subsequent search of the inspector’s residences, law enforcement officials recovered a Bruni Mod. 92 gas pistol along with a cache of ammunition.
Additionally, officers seized GHS 9,835.00 in cash believed to be connected to the crime.
Dankwah made his initial appearance before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on May 11, 2026.
The court ordered that the suspect remain in police custody until his next scheduled hearing on May 29, 2026.
According to a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, the investigation into the inspector’s conduct remains active as authorities work to uncover the full extent of his activities.
