In a targeted crackdown on illicit narcotics, the Mankranso District Police Command has apprehended four suspected drug peddlers and recovered an illegal firearm alongside a significant cache of suspected drugs in the Ashanti Region.

The early morning operation, which took place on Friday, June 26, 2026, was executed across several identified locations within the Kunsu Township.

According to law enforcement officials, the sweep is part of a broader, sustained campaign by the Ghana Police Service to eliminate drug trafficking and curb related criminal networks in the district.

The suspects have been identified as 22-year-old Issaka Musah, 25-year-old Amankwah Emmanuel, 32-year-old Kwame Boateng, and 23-year-old Appiah Prince.

During the raid, officers seized a locally manufactured pistol loaded with two BB rounds of ammunition. Additionally, police recovered substantial quantities of illicit substances, including suspected Tramadol, unverified red capsules, and a stash of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.

Officers also discovered a whitish powdery substance wrapped in paper, suspected to be cocaine, alongside cash totaling GH₵5,647.40, which investigators believe to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade.

According to a formal statement released by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit for the Ashanti Region, the suspects have actively acknowledged their involvement.

“During preliminary investigations, the suspects allegedly admitted ownership of the recovered exhibits,” DSP Ahianyo stated. “They are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before the court upon the conclusion of investigations.”

The regional command emphasized that it will maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics and organized crime rings operating within the community. In the wake of the successful raid, leadership urged residents to remain vigilant and collaborative.

“The Ghana Police Service remains resolute in its fight against drug-related offences and organised crime,” DSP Ahianyo added. “We urge members of the public to continue supporting the Police by providing timely and credible information to help identify and apprehend individuals engaged in criminal activities.”
