Military engineers have surpassed initial targets on the Accra–Kumasi Expressway project by securing an 89.5-kilometre stretch of the strategic corridor.

Official figures published by the Ghana Armed Forces confirm that more than half of the required ground—precisely 50.9 per cent—has been cleared of all natural barriers and blockages.

The Engineering Regiment accomplished this primary phase within nine weeks, consuming a mere 45 per cent of the total time allocated for the task.

This swift advancement stems from the continuous rotation of military personnel on the ground, allowing operations to move forward ahead of schedule despite heavy downpours and complex landscapes.

Attention has now turned to the remaining 86.1 kilometres of the designated zone.

Accoridng to yhe military, the concluding segment of the clearance operation is slated to wrap up over the ensuing 13 weeks.

This accelerated preparatory work establishes a clean 175.6-kilometre corridor, paving the way for heavy civil engineering and paving units to begin mass construction.

Upon completion, the modern dual-carriageway will revolutionise transport links between the capital and the Ashanti Region, slashing transit durations and vitalising commerce along the nation’s premier economic corridor.
