A driver is currently receiving treatment at the Suhum Government Hospital after his tanker veered off the Accra–Kumasi Highway and crashed into the bush at Amanase on Sunday morning.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of 12 July, involved a HOWO tanker with registration number 11 AG 2649, travelling from Kumasi towards Accra.
It is suspected that either a mechanical failure or human error caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station quickly deployed a seven-member crew to the scene. Using specialist rescue equipment, the team successfully extricated the trapped driver from the wreckage.
Although the tanker sustained extensive front-end damage, no fatalities were reported.
The rescued driver was handed over to the police at the scene before being rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
