A 35-year-old taxi driver, Kwabena Awuah, popularly known as “Asawado”, has been found dead in his vehicle at Kotwi-Nkoransa in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased was discovered in his yellow-and-white taxi with registration number AW 2458-20 in the early hours of the morning, following what residents suspect to be a violent attack by unknown assailants around midnight.
According to preliminary reports gathered from the community, Awuah had engaged in a heated misunderstanding with his wife at about 8:00 pm on the night preceding the incident.
Later, at around 11:00 pm, he informed neighbours and acquaintances that he was heading out to work for the night.
News of his gruesome death broke early the next morning, throwing the entire Kotwi-Nkoransa community into shock and mourning.
Officers from the Brofoyedru Police Command have since visited the crime scene to inspect the vehicle and collect initial evidence.
The body of the deceased has been conveyed to the mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
The police have officially launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death and to track down those responsible for the crime. No arrests have been made so far.
