The Headteacher of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Abdulai Zakaria, is currently receiving emergency medical treatment at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi after being brutally assaulted by angry students.

The violent unrest erupted on Wednesday morning after rumours circulated across campus claiming the headmaster had secretly buried a foetus in a nearby bush, allegedly linked to an abortion involving a female student.

Infuriated by the claims, a mob of students mobilised early in the day to confront Mr Zakaria.

The situation quickly turned violent, leaving the headmaster severely injured and several school properties vandalised. His current medical condition remains undisclosed.

High-ranking police units have since flooded the premises to restore order.

As part of their preliminary investigations, officers exhumed the remains of what is believed to be an infant from the site pinpointed by the students.

Academic activities have been suspended, with the campus remaining under heavy security surveillance.

Law enforcement authorities are yet to issue a formal statement regarding the exhumation or the allegations against the headteacher as inquiries continue.
