The Management of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has restored water supply to several communities across Western Accra following the completion of critical repair works on a damaged 500mm diameter main pipeline.
The infrastructure damage occurred during excavation activities conducted by AWERCO Construction Limited, causing a temporary disruption to the municipal water delivery system in the affected area.
GWL engineers and technical units worked around the clock to isolate and fix the damaged section of the pipeline to return service to impacted residents.
Announcing the operational recovery, GWL stated, “Management of Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) wishes to inform its valued customers and the general public that repair works on the damaged 500mm diameter main pipeline have been successfully completed.”
The restoration covers a broad range of residential and commercial zones.
“GWL engineers and technical teams worked continuously to repair the affected section of the pipeline, thus, water supply has been restored to the affected areas, including but not limited to Mallam, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Mataheko, Korle Bu, Mamprobi, Dansoman Township, Chorkor and surrounding communities,” the utility provider noted.
The company cautioned that consumers might encounter temporary variations in flow rates as the supply grid normalises.
“Customers may experience low pressures or intermittent flow in some locations as the pressures in the network stabilizes. GWL therefore advises customers to bear with the situation and allow some time for normal service to resume,” the statement explained.
Management expressed gratitude to affected residents for their cooperation throughout the repair window and commended external partners for assisting in the swift completion of the project.
