The Municipal Chief Executive for the Okaikwei North Municipality, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, has expressed appreciation to the two Members of Parliament whose constituencies make up the municipality for what he describes as their impressive leadership and commitment to youth development.
He specifically commended the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni, and the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah, for implementing and supporting initiatives aimed at equipping young people with practical skills.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio’s weekend programme, Hon. Badger said the two MPs had demonstrated a strong interest in the welfare and future of young people in their respective constituencies.
According to him, their support for skills training and other youth-centred programmes had provided many young people with opportunities to acquire employable skills, become self-reliant and improve their livelihoods.
Hon. Badger noted that skills development remained essential to reducing unemployment and poverty, particularly among young people who might not have the opportunity to pursue formal academic education.
Hon. Badger further disclosed that the positive impact of the two MPs’ leadership could also be seen among some young people who had previously struggled with drug addiction.
He said some drug users in the area were now turning away from substance abuse and seeking a better life.
According to him, the availability of skills training, mentorship and productive opportunities had helped provide these young people with a sense of direction and hope.
He commended the two MPs for what he described as their good vision and commitment to creating opportunities for vulnerable young people.
