Operatives from the National Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), in a joint intelligence-led operation with National Security, have arrested a 51-year-old man, Jibreel Hardi, at Weija in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspect was apprehended following targeted surveillance by security officers over his alleged involvement in the supply and dealing of illicit drugs within the municipality and its surrounding areas.
A search conducted on his vehicle and private residence led to the retrieval of a quantity of substances suspected to be cannabis, alongside packages of Tramadol, a controlled prescription medicine.
The operational team also seized a firearm and 50 rounds of live 9mm ammunition during the exercise.
His 42-year-old wife, Abiba Fatawu, was arrested at the scene as a suspected accomplice.
Both suspects remain in custody assisting security agencies with investigations. The seized items have been secured as exhibits to aid in court proceedings.
