The Adentan Municipal Assembly has commissioned three newly constructed school facilities as part of ongoing efforts to end the practice of pupils learning under trees and dilapidated structures.
The project beneficiaries comprise Otano Presbyterian School, Ashiyie Primary School, and Adentan Community School. The modern blocks feature fully furnished classrooms, ancillary offices, and sanitation facilities designed to provide a safe, child-friendly environment.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Adentan, Ella Esinam Christine Ningo, stressed that studying outdoors exposes children to harsh weather, frequently disrupts lessons, and impairs academic performance. She noted that the Assembly remains resolute in ensuring every child within the municipality learns in a safe, dignified space to boost enrolment and retention.
The Municipal Director of Education, Gifty Mussey, expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as a major relief for both teachers and pupils who had endured overcrowding and unfavorable learning conditions for years.
Mussey assured that her directorate would collaborate with headteachers, School Management Committees (SMCs), and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) to maintain the facilities and safeguard them against deterioration.
