The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in charge of Marketing and Special Duties, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, has petitioned the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts over recurring difficulties in accessing the Chief Executive Officer for official consultations and critical decision-making.
In an official memo dated 22nd October 2026, the Deputy CEO disclosed that his efforts to schedule consultations through the CEO’s administrative assistants have repeatedly been met with responses that she is unavailable.
According to him, whilst he recognises the heavy demands of the CEO’s schedule, the inability to secure timely access is impeding approvals, operational guidance, and key decisions required to execute his mandate effectively across domestic tourism, marketing, and special events.
He highlighted that the ongoing breakdown in access is causing administrative friction, resulting in noticeable delays in core operations, stakeholder engagements, and the execution of key institutional assignments.
Clarifying his intentions, Mr Aggrey emphasised that the memo was not aimed at filing a personal grievance, but rather highlighting a crucial operational gap that must be resolved to safeguard institutional efficiency and performance.
He subsequently appealed for the Minister’s direct intervention—with the full knowledge of the GTA Board Chairperson—to institute a structured, functional communication framework between his office and the CEO for urgent official matters.
Reaffirming his commitment to organizational unity, Mr Aggrey maintained his readiness to work professionally alongside the CEO and executive leadership to advance the strategic objectives of the Ministry and the Ghana Tourism Authority.
Copies of the petition were served to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Board Chairperson of the GTA, and the Chief Executive Officer.
