The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) has issued an immediate closure order to the Tamale Technical University Hospital due to the discovery of serious safety and infection prevention concerns.
This decision was made after officials uncovered evidence of substandard healthcare services at the facility.
HeFRA’s statement revealed that intelligence reports, supported by video and photographic evidence, exposed the hospital’s unsafe and unhygienic conditions.
A follow-up inspection conducted by the Agency’s Compliance and Enforcement Directorate on Monday, November 3, 2025, confirmed the raised safety and infection prevention concerns.
Additionally, HeFRA discovered that the hospital had been operating with an expired license, violating the Health Institutions and Facilities Act, 2011 (Act 829).
Consequently, the hospital has been directed to remain closed from Friday, November 7, 2025, until all identified safety lapses and infection control issues are addressed.
The facility has also been fined GHS35,000 and instructed to regularize its licensing status before resuming operations.
