The clash occurred on Sunday, stemming from an earlier dispute between the factions that had already been reported to the authorities.

The situation escalated rapidly, with members of both groups reportedly armed and discharging firearms during the riot.

Contrary to initial reports suggesting one person had died, the police have officially clarified that there were no fatalities.

In a media interview, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, the Winneba Divisional Commander, dismissed the death claims. He confirmed that while two individuals sustained life-threatening injuries, no deaths occurred.

The two injured individuals are currently receiving medical attention at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba and the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. Both victims remain under police protection as investigations continue.

“We have made some arrests, and the suspects have been remanded into prison custody. There has been no death, as reported. Some persons were wounded, and they are responding to treatment at various hospitals,” ACP Opoku said.
