A 45-year-old farmer, Dodzi Edudzi, has beheaded his wife at Asikuma Enyi-Kpodzi in the Asuogyaman District of Ghana’s Eastern Region.
The killing has caused shock across the rural community, where neighbours expressed disbelief at the sudden violence.
Local police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported to secure the area and recover the victim’s body.
Reporting the story on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, reporter Deshyee Opambuor disclosed that official motives behind the attack remain unestablished. Law enforcement agencies have, however, assured the public that further details will be released as investigations progress.
According to local reports, the couple had returned home together from an evening church service without any immediate signs of conflict.
Moments later, a neighbour spotted the husband emerging from the couple’s room holding a knife dripping with blood.
Driven by curiosity and alarm, the neighbour rushed into the room where she found the victim lying motionless in a pool of blood.
Her screams immediately alerted other residents, who rushed to the scene.
The suspect was subsequently arrested by the police.
Although he has so far refused to cooperate or make a statement to investigators, emerging reports suggest he had previously received medical treatment for mental illness.
Investigators have opened an inquiry into the circumstances leading up to the attack.
The remains have been moved to a mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
