The founder and leader of Patriot Ghana, a group linked with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to gather the courage to select his running mate once and for all.
Kwesi Korang stated that while the second gentleman of the country should not be pressured, the delay in picking his running mate was not politically healthy.
According to him, the delay in naming the running mate has created tension and challenges for the party.
He believes it will serve the party well if the vice president names his running mate.
The party, he added, ought to be fully prepared for its campaign, and the delay in naming the running mate was affecting the effectiveness of the campaign.
“The delay in naming the running mate is a challenge. The more he delays, the more it creates tension and challenges for the party. He should name his running mate so the person would support his campaign and the party would put its house in order for full action. But in all of these, we would also caution those who are mounting pressure on the candidate to stop.”
He also asked the party to allow him to name someone he would be comfortable working with.
“We should allow him to mention the name of someone he will be comfortable working with. There are people who are pushing some pressure groups to mention their names so the Vice President will settle on them. I will admonish the candidate to gather the courage to name his running mate.”
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Kwesi Korang admonished the presidential candidate of the NPP not to allow anyone to pressure him into naming someone who has no ability to add any value to his ticket.
