The Electoral Commission (EC) has annulled the parliamentary results for the Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central constituencies.
The electoral body described the results from these constituencies as illegal and unable to be upheld.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, December 13, 2024, the Deputy EC Chair for Operations, Samuel Tettey, disclosed that three of the 12 constituencies requiring re-collation of parliamentary results have been successfully completed.
These constituencies are Suhum, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North.
He further disclosed that recollation is yet to take place in Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, and Techiman South.
“It is important to note that the recollation in the following constituencies, namely Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central, did not follow laid down processes as enshrined in CI 127 despite police presence at the collation centres to enable the commission staff to undertake the recollation.
“The centres were again besieged by party supporters who took over the process and forced out staff to declare results of their preferred candidates,” Tettey said.
He went on to state that in all four instances, the process of CI 127 was not followed.
He also alleged that officials of the EC were threatened to declare some candidates as winners.
“It is therefore the conclusion of the commission that the collation and declarations that did not follow laid down procedures are illegal and cannot be upheld by the commission since the processes for collation and declaration as set out in CI 127 were violated and not followed,” he added.
