Minority confused about 2025 budget because it is loaded with hope and opportunities – NDC MP

March 13, 2025
KUYON

Member of Parliament for Krachi Nchumuru Solomon Kuyon has described the 2025 Budget Statement as a ‘’budget that is loaded”.

The MP who is Vice Chair of the Youth and Sports Committee of Parliament said the budget is not only loaded but contains initiatives and policies that will restore hope and create opportunities for the unemployed youth, business community, and the poor.

In a telephone interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he posited that the minority will not appreciate the impact the budget will have due to their political interest.

‘’The 2025 budget is loaded. It contains initiatives that will restore confidence in the economy. It will create opportunities for every Ghanaian across all sectors of the economy. The minority is aware of the positive impact this budget will have on Ghanaians but will not acknowledge that because they could not do what we have set out to do, and so they are trying hard to find something to say. They should come out and convince Ghanaians why it is an ‘azaa’ budget like the Minority Leader claimed. It would have been proper for them to wait and allow the government to start implementation and criticise when necessary, but for political reasons, they are just throwing out false claims. His criticisms are not objective.”

He also denied claims that the 24-hour policy was not included in the budget statement.

‘’If you listened to the finance minister very well, he spoke about the policy but made an emphatic statement that every ministry will come to present their detailed budget for their respective ministries so Ghanaians will see the elaborate explanation of every policy. So for someone to claim that the minister did not touch on the 24-hour economy and did not reflect it in the budget is wrong. We should exercise patience and wait for the sector ministers to come and present their budgets and detailed presentations, and if we don’t see the policies reflected, then we can talk about them.’’

He insisted that President Mahama remain committed to the 24-hour economy, and it has featured in all his public commentary, including the State of the Nation he delivered a few weeks ago.
