A 58-year-old woman, identified as Madam Akosua Attah, has been discovered deceased under suspicious circumstances, with her family suspecting foul play.
Madam Akosua Attah was found lifeless with severe head injuries in her kitchen at Abompekrom, located in the Obuasi West Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred during a power outage caused by a technical issue with a GRIDCO substation transformer in Obuasi.
According to the deceased’s daughter, she had closed from work and went out to purchase food and upon returning, discovered several missed calls.
Upon calling back, she was informed of a distressing situation, which led to the discovery of her mother’s lifeless body.
The Assembly Member for the Abompekrom Electoral Area, Mr. Frederick Addo, corroborated the incident, describing it as unfortunate.
He stated that upon receiving a distress call about the incident at 7:00 pm, he and his team proceeded to the scene, where they found the deceased’s body with the head almost severed.
Mr. Addo described the scene as harrowing, noting the extensive blood loss suggested the deceased had suffered severe injuries before succumbing.
The police were subsequently notified and have initiated an investigation.
The body has been deposited at the morgue, and as of now, no arrests have been made by the Obuasi Divisional Police Command.
