The state funeral of the eight personalities who lost their lives in the helicopter crash will be held today, Friday, August 15, 2025.
The ceremony will be held at Black Star Square at 9:00 am.
Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbe provided the update on Thursday, August 14, 2025, indicating that following the state funeral, the remains of the six individuals, excluding Dr Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru, who were buried on Sunday, will be interred at the Tse Addo Military Cemetery.
Tributes will be read by widows, children, government officials, and representatives from the institutions where the individuals worked, in memory of the departed.
Mr Dogbe said the funeral will be held in three parts — beginning with Bible and Qur’an recitals, followed by the main service, and ending with the burial.
The pre-burial programme will start at 7:30 a.m. and end at 9:00 a.m. The Vice President is expected to arrive at 8:50 a.m., with President John Dramani Mahama arriving at 9:00 a.m. to commence the state service.
The August 6 helicopter crash claimed eight lives. Two victims — Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna — were buried on Sunday, August 10.
Those to be buried on August 15 include Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Mr Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Mr Dogbe urged the public to arrive early and comply with security protocols in place for the event.
