Man allegedly kills friend over chieftaincy role and accusation of reporting his abuse of his wife

A bitter feud in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region has ended in tragedy, with one man, Agya Adusa, allegedly killing another, Papa Kofi, at a local camp.

The conflict, which had been simmering for some time, was fueled by a mix of personal grievances and community politics.

Papa Kofi had a long-standing habit of criticising Agya Adusa’s marriage, often gossiping about him and his wife, especially during their disagreements.

Tensions escalated even further when a traditional council appointed Papa Kofi as a caretaker chief due to the ailing health of the current chief, who was traveling for medical care.

According to reporter Abdul Malik Anokye of Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, this decision deeply angered Agya Adusa, who believed he was the rightful person for the position.

Adusa, who claimed to have loyally followed the chief for years, felt he was the one who deserved to be put in charge of the community’s lands and property.

The final straw came when Papa Kofi informed the in-laws of Adusa’s wife that she was being assaulted by her husband.

When Adusa learned that Papa Kofi had exposed his behavior, he allegedly snapped.

He reportedly tracked Papa Kofi down and shot him in the face with a hunter’s gun, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.

Agya Adusa’s escape was short-lived.

His own son, in a shocking turn of events, told local residents that his father was the one who had shot Papa Kofi.

Though Adusa initially denied the accusation—even swearing on the gods to maintain his innocence—he later confessed to the crime.

He has since been arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
