Former Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape, according to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
The 32-year-old, currently playing for Spanish club Villarreal, is set to stand trial in November after previously denying five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault related to allegations made by three women.
The charges stem from alleged offences between 2021 and 2022, when Partey played for Arsenal.
A fresh investigation by the Metropolitan Police led to the new charges, which include five counts of rape against two women and one count of sexual assault against a third woman.
Thomas Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 13 in connection with the latest allegations.
He was first charged after his contract with Arsenal expired last year and is currently on bail, permitted to continue playing professional football under conditions that require him to notify police of international travel and prohibit contact with the complainants.
