Former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, has arrived in Ghana following her successful extradition from the United States to serve a prison sentence.

The High Court convicted and sentenced Tamakloe-Attionu in absentia in April 2024. Following her conviction, the Government of Ghana formally submitted an extradition request to United States authorities in July 2024 to secure her return.

Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed that American authorities notified the government of her impending surrender in January this year, concluding more than two years of complex international legal proceedings.

Tamakloe-Attionu landed in Accra on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Upon her arrival, officials from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Prisons Service immediately took her into custody. Security agencies are processing the necessary paperwork to transfer her to a correctional facility to begin serving her term.

In a related development, the Attorney-General is scheduled to meet with officials from the United States Department of Justice.

The upcoming bilateral discussions will focus on resolving all other pending extradition requests currently outstanding between the two nations.
