Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has commenced a nationwide stakeholder engagement series following the passage of the Ghana Cocoa Board Bill, 2026, beginning with key actors in Ghana’s cocoa sector at Cocoa House, Accra.
The first engagement, held yesterday, brought together representatives of cocoa farmer-based and civil society organisations and the Licensed Cocoa Buyers Association of Ghana (LICOBAG) to discuss the key provisions of the new Bill and its implications for the industry.
The engagement, which was led by the Chief Executive of COCOBOD, Dr. Randy Abbey, together with members of Management, focused keenly on the Bill’s provisions on COCOBOD’s mandate, obligations, regulatory oversight, financing policy, and producer pricing framework.
The discussions also covered key issues including cocoa farm protection, traceability, licensing, and farmer pension, highlighting the responsibilities of the various stakeholder groups under the new legal framework.
The stakeholder engagement will continue at the national level, and will be cascaded to the regional, district, and cocoa society levels, to build broad understanding of the new law and ensure its effective implementation.
