The Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana (PHFAoG) has commended the government and the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for the prompt payment of claims to its members.
Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM with host Kwabena Agyapong, the Vice President of the association, Mr Boakye Donkor, noted that the regular disbursement of claims has helped clear backlogs and ensure uninterrupted medical services across credentialed facilities nationwide.
He praised the leadership of the NHIA, led by Dr Bampoe, for their outstanding work, highlighting a significant improvement compared to previous delays in claim settlements.
“The government is doing its best in the payment of claims. They have paid claims to the point that some of our members have been paid up to June 2026. The Chief Executive Officer of the Health Insurance Scheme, Dr Bampoe, and his team have demonstrated sterling leadership since assuming office. We are also aware that by next week, they will pay the next batch of facilities,” he said.
He added, “Truth be told, comparing this to previously, it is better. Dr Bampoe, who is a medical doctor, has remained committed to ensuring that they will promptly pay us so that we will continue to serve Ghanaians better.”
Mr Boakye Donkor further urged the authorities to sustain this current payment structure to prevent health facilities from accumulating outstanding arrears in the future.
