A man in his forties has allegedly been killed, put in a sack, and abandoned in front of a church in Afrangua, Mfantseman Municipality, Central Region.
A report gathered by Nyankonton mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM revealed that the body of the deceased was discovered on Monday, April 22, 2023.
According to residents who saw the sack in front of the Roman Catholic Church in Afrangua, they never thought it was a human being until they heard a bad odour emanating from the scene.
Some individuals mustered the courage, moved to where the sack was, and opened it.
To their amazement, there was the lifeless body of the man in the sack.
Maggots, according to some residents, were coming from the mouth and ears.
It was suspected that he was killed elsewhere, put in the sack, and deposited in front of the church.
Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton mu Nsem, the Assembly Man for the Afrangua Electoral Area, Issa Alhassan, said the deceased is not from the area and suspect he was killed elsewhere, put in the sack, and dumped at the area.
The incident has brought fear and panic to the people of the area.
He said this was the first time they had witnessed something gruesome in the area and has called on the police to investigate and bring the offenders to book.
He added that the scene where the body was dumped had no street lights, making the area dark in the evening.
Police in Saltpond and Mfantseman Environmental Health Office arrived to retrieve the body and deposit it at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
The deceased’s family has not been identified yet.
