Former President John Dramani Mahama claims that ‘dumsor’ has returned, but the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has refused to be open with Ghanaians.
He stated that the country does not currently have stable power because Sunno Asogli shut down its plant due to unpaid government debt.
According to the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dumsor has returned as a result of the government’s deception.
He stated that under the NDC, a load-shedding timetable was implemented, informing Ghanaians when and where the lights would turn off so they could prepare.
He noted that the current fear is telling Ghanaians Dumsor is back because they fear being blamed for bringing back Dumsor.
“We currently do not have stable power because Sunno Asogli shut down its plant due to unpaid debt owed to the government. As a result, Dumsor returned. The government has refused to tell Ghanaians the truth for fear of being held accountable for reintroducing dusmor. During our previous administration, we implemented a load-shedding schedule to deal with the crisis. However, the current government has refused to do so for fear of being blamed for bringing back dumsor.
Ghanaians are experiencing dusmor. They are aware that the NDC is winning the elections, and they are promoting the dumsor to the next government so that Ghanaians will not blame them. They know we’ll win, so they’re planning to shift the burden onto us. Furthermore, they intend to leave $2 billion in debt in the energy sector to the next NDC government.”
